Chiropractic care is focused on disorders that affect the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, which can have an impact on your pet’s general health. Like human chiropractic care, veterinary chiropractic care moves joints purposefully to free them from restrictions. Joints are meant to move, and any restrictions can have a negative impact on all sorts of bodily systems.

No! Chiropractic adjustments are not meant to cause pain. Because the adjustment is a quick thrust on a joint, it can startle pets who have not had an adjustment before. But, after a few adjustments, pets usually relax and enjoy the treatment.

You might not be able to tell if your pet needs an adjustment. That’s where the team at Bridge City Animal Hospital comes in. We’re able to access your pet and provide you with insight as to what treatments might be best for your pet. This can include chiropractic adjustments. However, if you’re noticing changes in behavior or movement of your pet, that can be a good sign that an adjustment may be in order.

No two animals are the same! Some animals will have adjustments more frequently than others. When we begin adjustments, we typically recommend a monthly check up for preventative care. However, pets that have chronic health conditions may need to see us more frequently. Depending on how long your pet has been struggling with their health issue, your pet may need to undergo chiropractic adjustments for longer. Typically, pets will start to show signs of improvement after their third to fifth adjustments.
